Market price ranges for e-bike charging stations
Price depends on the number of charging points, the type of enclosure, solar panel output and battery capacity. ChargeGo has three shelter variants: the open shelter with 10 charging points from €18,500 excl. VAT and the enclosed shelter with 3 or 6 charging points from €23,500 and €32,500 excl. VAT. The unit price already includes the app, the battery and the solar panels; installation, transport and the foundation are quoted separately. A separate line is the ChargeGo Box, a wall-mounted station for garages and bike rooms, from €3,450 excl. VAT per unit. Shelters at the bottom of the price range have no electrical installation at all, just a roof and bike racks.

ChargeGo Shelter
A freestanding structure with rooftop solar and a battery. It runs with no grid connection: in a car park, in front of a hotel, on a housing estate or along a bike trail.

ChargeGo Box

Market price ranges
Products sold under the label "bike shelter" differ in price by two orders of magnitude. Below are the price ranges for each equipment tier, gathered from public price lists. This is our own working breakdown of the offers, not an industry classification.

What drives the price
Below are the items that push the shelter's price up or down.
Number of charging points and enclosure type
Every charging point adds a socket, a metering circuit and a section of the structure. An enclosed unit with doors and locks costs more than an open one with the same number of charging points.
Solar panel output
In the ChargeGo catalogue: 1.74 kWp on the 3-point variant and 3.48 kWp on the 6- and 10-point variants. More panels means more output, but also a larger roof area.
Battery storage capacity
The battery decides whether the station keeps charging after dark and on cloudy days. Beyond the cells, the price covers the BMS, winter heating and the enclosure. One of the largest cost items in a shelter.
Materials and build quality
The type of steel, the corrosion protection method and the ingress-protection rating of outdoor components affect both the price and the warranty a manufacturer can offer.
Electronics and software
Per-charging point metering, socket control, the app, access management, LTE connectivity, remote monitoring. Optionally a touch screen and a camera.
Where it's made
ChargeGo's structure, electronics and software are made in Poland. That matters for delivery times, service and documentation for public tenders.
Foundation, transport and installation
The type of foundation (screw anchors or a poured slab), the distance from our facility and site access conditions. We quote these separately for each location.

Costs over five years
Besides the purchase price, costs include energy, inspections and possible repairs. Below is a breakdown for a ChargeGo Shelter in an off-grid configuration.
We quote these separately, since they depend on the location and the scope of work on site:
- • foundation or screw anchors, depending on the ground
- • transport to the site and installation
- • site preparation, if the ground needs to be levelled or paved
- • 230 V connection, if you choose hybrid instead of off-grid operation
- • running a new circuit, if none exists at the installation site
- • documentation for the building notification
- • charging point markings and a RAL colour
For the ChargeGo Box, extra costs are fixed: installation €420, commissioning with training €350, charging point markings €140 excl. VAT.
Breakdown for the shelter with 10 charging points. The purchase price is the list price excl. VAT and includes the solar installation, so in an off-grid configuration further charging sessions add no grid energy cost. Foundation, transport and installation sit outside it and are quoted for the specific location. The service cost is an estimate, not a price-list figure.
Ways to finance a bike shelter
You don't have to pay the full amount up front. Buyers use four models: outright purchase, finance lease, operating lease and grant funding.
Purchase
Full payment on delivery. The shelter becomes a fixed asset on the buyer's books. Confirm the depreciation rate with your accountant; it depends on how the structure and equipment are classified.
Finance lease
Monthly instalments over 36–60 months, with a 1% buyout at the end. The shelter sits on the company's balance sheet, with the right to depreciate it. Good for companies that want to spread out cash flow.
Operating lease
The shelter stays the supplier's property; the client pays a fixed monthly fee covering service and insurance. An operating cost instead of a capital expense. At the end of the contract the shelter can be bought out, replaced or returned.
Grants and programmes
FEnIKS, regional operational programmes, Poland's National Recovery Plan and NFOŚiGW programmes. Each call's rules set the funding level and the list of eligible costs, so check them before applying.
What to compare across bike shelter quotes
Quotes from different suppliers are easy to mix up if you're not comparing the same parameters. Below are the items worth checking in every quote:
Structure
Material (galvanised steel, aluminium), coating method and protection class, which set durability and the warranty scope on the structure.
Number of charging points and enclosure type
Open or fully enclosed with doors and locks: different level of theft protection, different cost.
Solar panels
Installed output in kWp, panel type, available certificates and the panel manufacturer's warranty.
Battery storage
Cell chemistry, capacity in kWh, warranty terms on capacity and cycle count.
Security
Locks, access control, per-charging point current limit.
Monitoring
Whether the supplier sees the shelter's status remotely (fault, overload, offline), or only finds out about a problem from a user.
Service
Response time, scope of repairs covered by the contract, spare parts availability.
Warranty
Separate terms for the structure, the solar panels, the battery and the electronics. Periods usually differ, so check each one.
Foundation and installation
Foundation method, ground requirements, who is responsible for groundwork.
Transport
Delivery time from order, transport cost to the site.
Software
Mobile app, offline operation and per-charging point usage metering: standard, or charged as an add-on.

What's not included in the unit price?+
The foundation or screw anchors, transport, installation, site preparation and documentation for the building notification. For the shelter we quote these individually, since they depend on the ground, site access and the scope of work. For the ChargeGo Box they're fixed: installation €420, commissioning with training €350, charging point markings €140 excl. VAT.
What does it cost to run after purchase?+
In an off-grid configuration the shelter draws no power from the grid, so there's no electricity bill and no supplier contract; energy comes from the solar panels and the battery. The app and remote monitoring are included in the unit price. What's left is panel inspection and cleaning. The LFP battery carries a 5-year warranty for at least 80% of capacity (4,000+ cycles). Hybrid operation with grid top-up adds the cost of grid energy.
Are there grants for e-bike charging stations?+
For local governments: FEnIKS, regional operational programmes, Poland's National Recovery Plan and NFOŚiGW programmes. For tourism and rural facilities: local action group programmes. Each call's rules set the funding level and the list of eligible costs, and terms differ between calls and regions, so check them before applying.
What's the difference between a €3,500 shelter and a €23,500 shelter?+
The scope of equipment. At the bottom of the range: a roof and racks, no electrical installation. Higher up: roof panels and sockets. At the top: battery storage for charging after dark, per-charging point metering, access control and remote monitoring. The choice follows from whether the station only shelters bikes or also charges them and tracks usage.
Can charging be added to a cheap shelter later?+
It depends on the structure. Running power and installing sockets works anywhere with access to an electrical installation. Adding solar panels and a battery needs a roof built to carry the panel load and space for an equipment cabinet, which most off-the-shelf shelters lack. The scope of work has to be assessed for the specific structure.
