The ChargeGo solar bike shelter and ChargeGo Box

The solar Shelter is a freestanding outdoor structure with roof-mounted solar panels, a battery and its own inverter, so it works where there is no grid connection. ChargeGo Box mounts on the wall of an underground garage, bike room or hall and runs off the building's own circuit. They share the software: the app, the admin panel and how access is granted.

How it works for the user

Starting a charge

Scan the QR code at the charging point or start from the app, then get a notification when the session ends. The Shelter and the ChargeGo Box work the same way, with no staff involved.

Users choose a nearby station, select a charging point and start charging. The app is the default method; a PIN code at the station or an RFID card also work.

Security

Electrical protection

The two products are protected differently because they are powered differently. The Box runs on a single 230 V circuit from the building's own installation; the shelter has its own solar panels, battery storage and inverter.

ChargeGo Box — indoors

Protection on a single 230 V circuit

  • 2 A limit per charging point
    Enforced electronically. Exceeding it disconnects that one socket and flags it in the app, instead of tripping the breaker for the whole circuit.
  • Full protection in the enclosure
    Main disconnect switch, residual-current and overcurrent protection, surge protection and a safety switch.
  • Schuko IP44 outlets with shutter contacts
    16 A / 250 V, sealed construction.
  • Energy meter on every socket
    A separate measurement circuit at each socket.
Shelter — outdoors

Current monitoring and DC-side protection

  • Current monitoring on every socket
    The controller measures current separately on each channel and disconnects the socket once it crosses the set threshold. The same measurement detects when charging finishes and frees the charging point.
  • Protection for the solar array and battery
    The shelter runs on its own inverter, fed by the panels and the LFP battery. That adds a DC side: a PV disconnect switch, surge protection and a BMS that monitors cell temperature.
  • Protection sized to the electrical design
    Residual-current and overcurrent protection is sized for the specific installation and confirmed in the as-built documentation.
  • 6 MP IP camera, IP67 housing
    Day and night mode. Snapshot images are deleted after one hour by default; the site can set a longer retention period.

For the Box, an electrician sets the scope of work on the building's side after a site visit. The unit needs a 230 V / 16 A circuit run to the location.

ChargeGo platform

One app for both product lines

The Shelter and the Box are different hardware, but the app shows the same information for both: a list of charging points, their status, live power draw and session history.

No front desk needed to start a session

Guests start from the mobile app or a QR code at the station, and get a notification when charging finishes. Staff don't hand out or collect anything. RFID cards and fobs are available as an add-on.

Usage tracked at every charging point

The Box has an energy meter on every socket, while the Shelter measures current on every socket. You know who charged, when and how much, without adding submeters.

Usage per charging point and per session goes into the panel and into the reports.

A dropped connection doesn't stop charging

The device keeps working and measuring locally, and events sync once the connection comes back. Remote monitoring and control return with it.

Price of the unit itself. Installation €420, commissioning €350, charging point labelling €140. Cloud service €10/month.

It depends on where the bikes are kept. Indoors, in an underground garage, a bike room or a hall, a wall-mounted ChargeGo Box covers it: from €3,450 for the unit with software, control panel and app, no subscription. Installation (€420) and commissioning with training (€350) are quoted separately. Outdoors you need a solar shelter with photovoltaics and a battery: the open shelter with 10 charging points from €18,500, the lockable shelter with 3 charging points from €23,500, and with 6 charging points from €32,500. All prices excl. VAT. We quote a shelter within 1–2 business days.
